Nearly 400 Middle School Student athletes from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District competed this year in a number of track and field events. During the months leading up to this special event, many students learn new skills, work hard to prepare and are really excited about earning their way to participate!
Most of the coaches are comprised of the middle school PE teachers. We also have teachers and support staff that act as coaches. The track meet has exposed many students to track and field events that otherwise would never have the opportunity until they enter high school or not at all. There have been dozens of students who have participated over the last past years that are now members of their high school track & field teams.
The sportsmanship of these students across the board is one of the highlights of the event. Watching athletes from the schools cheering on not only their school but all of the schools during the event is something to behold. Administrators and teachers attend the event and cheer on their students on the field.
The REACH Foundation thanks Coach Jesse Gomez of Yorba Linda High School and the YLHS students and Track & Field Boosters for running the events. We look forward to 2019!
